While there are several causes for snoring, it is usually exacerbated by things such as excess weight, poor diet, and a general lack of health. Snoring can take a long time to cure permanently and most of the anti snoring devices available can be expensive and uncomfortable. Anti snoring pillows are some of the easiest remedies to reduce snoring and might actually help in providing a better quality sleep.

People snore for various reasons, usually something that impedes air flow in the throat. Often, excess flesh presses against the throat tissues, causing the soft pallet, the uvula, and the tonsils to obstruct air flow which causes snoring. But low grade inflammation can also cause blockage in this area and thus snoring. Snoring can indicate an underlying medical condition, but most snoring is not serious except for the peace of mind of the snorer and their unfortunate partner. This is probably a good example of the simplest answer really being the best one

It might pay to have yourself checked out by a doctor to ensure your general health is ok.There are cases, such as severe sleep apnea where snoring can indicate a more serious disease. However, snoring is more often caused by excess weight. Certainly, losing weight is always a good idea, but this takes time and the snoring might not abate immediately. Inflammation is also quite common today, as many people find themselves in poor health. Taking over-the-counter remedies to counteract snoring caused by inflammation is probably not the smartest idea, as too many over-the-counter medications are damaging to the liver. Usually, to counteract snoring caused by inflammation, we must really adopt a healthier lifestyle and root out the cause of the inflammation (in many people, it is intolerance to certain foods, like gluten or dairy).. This will also take a while and may be quite difficult, but can substantially improve our general health

In the meantime, the snoring usually continues and, for some unlucky few, continues after the weight loss and the inflammation have long gone. There are a few other remedies, nasal strips are one option that seem non-invasive and somewhat cost effective. A packet of nasal strips can be bought for under $10 and they are simple to fit onto the nose prior to sleep. However these don’t eliminate all snoring and people find them uncomfortable. Don’t forget that the main cause of snoring is pressure on the tissues in the throat, so it makes sense that nasal strips cannot possibly help everyone.

The issue really is releasing pressure off the neck and the soft pallet, the uvula, and the tonsils. Again, there are two devices that do precisely that. One is an anti-snoring mouth guard. For about $30, this is a device that you put into the mouth before bed. Although this sometimes does work, many people find it uncomfortable. The second is as simple as an anti-snoring pillow, sometimes called a snore reduction pillow, which can ranges in price from about $20-$60. Several snorers find this a good, non invasive option.

Here’s something else to think about. If your neck and head position is so bad that you begins to snore, then holding your head in proper position while sleeping is more than likely helping in other ways as well, not the least of which is spinal alignment.
